Hull & Machinery

A full inspection of the structure of the marine vessel, its machinery, and (if needed) their stability and performance.

On/Off Hire Surveys

Inspection on the ship’s overall condition of cargo spaces, suitability for charter.  Includes review of documents onboard, classification, statutory, condition of holds, navigation equipment, engine room, ship condition, galley, bow thruster, quantity of bunker. This also includes vessel condition, cleanliness of holds, fitness to receive cargo and condition of all relevant structures such as cargo hold, hatches, bulwarks, shipside rails, and cargo gear.

Draft Surveys

Our experienced surveyors can undertake Draft and Bunker Surveys for cargo shipping in any location worldwide. We routinely perform quantity surveys for shipping agents globally, and as such our surveyors have the skillset and experience to accurately determine results.

The weight of the cargo is established by taking a draught survey before and after loading or unloading. The draught is measured at six points; forward, amidships and aft on both the port and starboard sides. In practice, this procedure is never simple, and our surveyors bring years of professional experience and troubleshooting expertise.

Pre-Purchase Survey

A professional survey is a critical part of buying a sailing or motor vessel. It is standard practice for boat owners to have a survey completed before purchasing a vessel, regardless of the value.

Our surveyors uncover any issues that could impact the selling price or any issues which need to be addressed prior to sale. Basic surveys will be non-intrusive and provide a comprehensive report of the critical components including the hull, the propulsive equipment and the condition of all mechanical gear.

Risk Assessment

There are many reasons why an accident can happen onboard a vessel. It might be physical damage to the vessel or perhaps even a human causality.

We can complete Risk Management Surveys on board. We help underwriters, owners, captains and P&I clubs understand the processes, procedures, training gaps and other human and equipment aspects that can lead to disaster.

Acting on this information can significantly reduce the chances of an accident, issue or loss on board the vessel in question and support the vessel to improve going forward.

Risk Assessment including

  • H&S
  • Environmental
  • Financial/Business interruption
  • Operational
  • Fire and safety plans
